Access 2 Entertainment

What is Access 2 Entertainment?

The Access 2 Entertainment program is a fantastic initiative that offers individuals with disabilities easier access to entertainment venues across Canada. With this card, you can bring a support person with you for free or at a significantly reduced rate. It’s all about making entertainment more accessible and enjoyable for everyone!

Who Qualifies for an Access 2 Card?

To qualify for an Access 2 Card, you need to be a person with a permanent disability who requires a support person. You’ll need to provide proof of your disability, such as a letter from a healthcare professional or an official document, when applying for the card. You must also live with a permanent disability that requires the assistance of a support person when visiting participating venues.

Permanent Disability: A permanent disability can include physical, mental, intellectual, cognitive, learning, communication, or sensory impairments that restrict your ability to attend venues independently and will remain with you for life.

Support Person: A support person is someone who accompanies you to assist with tasks not provided by venue staff, such as eating, administering medication, communicating, or using washroom facilities. They must be 18 years or older and do not need to be a registered personal support worker unless specified by the venue. They can be a relative.

Age: The Access2 Card is available for individuals of all ages with permanent disabilities who need a support person. However, if you do not need a support person as you age, you are not eligible for the card. Additionally, if you gain free entry to a venue because of your age, the Access2 Card cannot be used at that time.

What are the Benefits of the Access 2 Card?

The benefits of the Access 2 Card are plentiful! Cardholders can enjoy various perks, including:

  • Free or discounted admission for a support person at participating venues.
  • Easier access to entertainment and recreational activities.
  • Inclusion in a community that values accessibility and support for individuals with disabilities.

How Much Does an Access 2 Card Cost?

The Access 2 Card is very affordable, costing just $20 for a 3-year term or $30 for a 5-year term. This small fee opens the door to a wide range of accessible entertainment options and is well worth the investment.
