Calgary Progressive Lifestyles Foundation is currently seeking a wheelchair accessible home in Calgary for a kind-natured dependent middle-aged female diagnosed with Developmental delay, rheumatoid arthritis, Reynaud Syndrome in hands and impaired depth perception. She is wheel chair bound and requires full personal care. She functions at the level of an 18 month old as such requires full support in everything she does. Job Description

In this role you will be required to provide full personal care by assisting the individual with home living activities, administering medication, and ensuring the safety and wellness of the individual in your wheelchair accessible home. The Respite Support Home provider will be required to support her with feeding, bathing, and toileting.

Duties and Responsibilities

This role involves demonstrating patience and utilizing problem-solving skills in the following duties:

  • Provide companionship as well as promote community inclusion.
  • Maintain the home and the individual’s living space and provide healthy meals that are accommodated to her disability.
  • Implement the activities as outlined in the Individual Service Plan. Read, understand and implement the expectations outlined in the individual’s Support plan and support protocols.
  • Closely follow agency Philosophy and Values in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Attend monthly support team meetings, bringing forward information or concerns regarding the individual’s service.
  • Keep logs and provide documentation as required by the Agency.
  • Assist with and/or accompany the individual to appointments as required.
  • Ensure that the individuals’ health, safety, and wellbeing are maintained at all times.
  • Assist the individual in any area they may require assistance in.
  • Any other duties relevant to the position and individual’s needs as may be required.
  • Ability to work with the support team of people who will be working with the client.

Job Requirements

  • Should have experience in working with medically complex needs individuals.
  • Fluent in English and able to complete detailed forms/documentation.
  • Have a wheel chair accessible home.
  • Have minimal noise in the home as client is affected by noise.
  • Police Clearance.
  • Written References.

*Medication administration training and Crisis Prevention Intervention training will be provided.

Qualifications

  • Standard First Aid Certificate
  • Secondary School (preferred)
  • Class 5 Licence (required)

Compensation

$170/day (client is entitled to 4 respite days in a month) This income is tax free.
