Job Description

This position is in the applicants home, not in the clients home. The home must have lifts and transfers to be wheelchair accessible, must not have children, and have minimal noise as client is affected by noise. The ideal candidate:

  • Will be responsible to assist the individual with home living activities, administering medication and ensuring the safety and wellness of the individual. The Respite Support Home provider will be required to support her with feeding, bathing, and toileting.
  • Is required to provide companionship as well as promote community inclusion.
  • Will maintain the home and the individual’s living space and provide healthy meals that are accommodated to his disability.
  • Should have experience in working with medically complex needs individuals
  • Should be fluent in English and able to complete detailed forms/documentation.

Essential Duties

  • Implement the activities as outlined in the Individual Service Plan. Read, understand and implement the expectations outlined in the individual’s Support plan and support protocols.
  • Closely follow agency Philosophy and Values in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Attend monthly support team meetings, bringing forward information or concerns regarding the individual’s service.
  • Keep logs and provide documentation as required by the Agency.
  • Assist with and/or accompany the individual to appointments as required.
  • Ensure that the individuals’ health, safety, and wellbeing are maintained at all times.
  • Assist the individual in any area they may require assistance in.
  • Any other duties relevant to the position and individual’s needs as may be required.
  • Ability to work with the support team of people who will be working with the client.

Job Requirements

  • Secondary School (preferred)
  • Police Clearance
  • Written References
  • Filled out the CPLF Work Application (see below)
  • The contractor will be responsible for paid training*

  • In person (Calgary, AB)

License/Certification

  • GDL (class 5) license
  • Standard First Aid Certificate
  • Experience working with adults with medical complex needs
