Job Description

As a Respite Home provider you will be supporting the client in your home primarily on the weekend(s). You will provide a clean and safe home, speak fluent English, provide healthy meals (and an occasional cheat meal), and support the client as needed. You will need to provide consistency with boundaries, support mental health challenges, administer medication.

This semi-independent male is personable, friendly, and enjoys a good conversation. On the weekends he likes to relax, FaceTime/phone his friends, spends time on TikTok/internet and taken out for coffee. He smokes cannabis outside. He loves animals – a pet friendly home is welcome.

The support home should:

  • Be located in Calgary.
  • Have no young children in the Home.
  • Provider must ensure that clients is not left alone in the vicinity of parks, schools or other recreational centers where children may be present.

Essential Duties

  • Implement the activities as outlined in the Individual Service Plan. Read, understand and implement the expectations outlined in the individual’s Support plan and support protocols.
  • Closely follow agency Philosophy and Values in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Attend monthly support team meetings, bringing forward information or concerns regarding the individual’s service.
  • Keep logs and provide documentation as required by the Agency.
  • Assist with and/or accompany the individual to appointments as required.
  • Ensure that the individuals’ health, safety, and wellbeing are maintained at all times.
  • Assist the individual in any area they may require assistance in.
  • Any other duties relevant to the position and individual’s needs as may be required.
  • Ability to work with the support team of people who will be working with the client.

Qualifications

  • Secondary School (preferred)
  • Class 5 Licence (required)
  • Experience working with adults with mental and/or physical health challenges would be considered an asset
  • Medication administration training and Crisis Prevention Intervention training will be provided at a cost

Salary

$239.31 per day
