While Calgary Transit itself does not provide free transit services, Calgary Transit Access does offer specialized transportation services for those who qualify. This means that eligible individuals, including those with disabilities, can access convenient and tailored transportation options through Calgary Transit Access, making sure that everyone in the community has the opportunity to travel safely and independently.
To apply for Calgary Transit Access, follow these simple steps:
Complete the Form: Download the application form from Calgary Transit’s website or request a form to be mailed to you by calling 403-537-7770. Fill out Sections A-G of the application form. Ask your medical professional to complete Section G of the application form, confirming your eligibility for accessible transportation services.
Submit the Completed Form: Fax your completed application to 403-537-7812 or email it to [email protected].
Wait For Your Interview: Calgary Transit Access will call you to schedule an in-person interview to determine if you meet the requirements based on your physical and/or cognitive abilities.

If you’re a visitor to Calgary and eligible for accessible transit service in your home municipality, you may qualify for temporary service within Calgary city limits from CTA. Its best to plan ahead and contact their eligibility team at 403-537-7777, option 5, to find out if you meet the criteria for visitor’s service to make arrangements to make your visit as stress-free as possible.
Once you’ve completed your application, you’re all set to start navigating the city! You can now set up your CTA myID account to register for online trip bookings. Once you’ve set up your account, you have the ability to request, pause and manage regular (subscription) trips, submit a request for a same-day trip, and even add notes about specific pick-up and drop-off locations.
