Job Description

This role will help accommodate clients in their home and support in all areas of daily living such as relationship building and leisure participation, as well as mental health and behavioural support. Strong communication and teamwork skills are required to succeed in this position, as is the ability to liaise with family and managers. This home must not have any occupants under 18 years of age.

Duties and Responsibilities

This role involves demonstrating patience and utilizing problem-solving skills in the following duties:

  • Will be responsible to assist individual with home living activities and ensuring the safety and wellness of the individual.
  • Will be required to provide companionship as well as promote community inclusion.
  • Is able to implement the activities outlined in the Individual Service Plan.
  • Closely follows agency Philosophy and Values in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Must attend monthly support team meetings, bringing forward information or concerns regarding the individual clients’ service.
  • Keep daily logs and documentation of activities.
  • Assist with and/or accompany individuals to appointments as required.
  • Ensure that the individuals’ health, safety, and wellbeing are maintained at all times.
  • Must have experience to support complex needs client.

*Please note that a home inspection of the candidates’ home will be carried out to confirm the suitability of the home before progressing to the next stage.

Job Requirements

  • Have reinforced basements or rooms
  • Have no other supported individuals in the support home
  • Have no vulnerable adults
  • Have wheelchair access or walk-in shower (An added bonus)
  • Previous experience as a caregiver or in a related field is required
  • Previous experience with managing complex needs clients preferred
  • Relevant Supportive care certifications such as First Aid/CPR, Medication Administration certifications etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Compassionate and patient demeanour when working with clients
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
  • This home must not have any occupants under 18 years of age

License/Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (relevant educational background preferred)
  • Police clearance with vulnerable persons search (required)
  • Class 5 Drivers license (required)
*Medication administration training, Crisis Prevention Intervention training, Abuse Protocol Training, and Positive Behaviour Support training will be provided at cost.

Salary

$4,500 per month and above. This income tax is free.
